Chantal is a descendant of the Biripi people of Northern New South Wales. After dancing with Bangarra from 2003-2005, Chantal rejoined Bangarra in 2013-2020 as a Youth Program Team Leader.

Bio

Chantal graduated from the National Aboriginal and Islander Skills Development Association (NAISDA) College in 2002 and has since worked with Bangarra as a Dancer (2003-2005) and a Youth Program Team Leader (2013-2020).

Chantal’s career highlights include performing alongside the women of the Central Desert as part of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, and performing in Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Harvey Theatre and The Kennedy Centre in Washington D.C.. Chantal has also had the opportunity to participate in cultural exchanges with the Inuit people of northern Canada, as well as performing in the JAK ART Festival in Indonesia, Return to Country residencies to Ngukurr, Northern Territory, and Mer, Yam and Thursday Islands in the Torres Strait.

In 2013, Chantal joined the Youth Program Team as Team Leader, travelling to over 30 regional and remote communities as part of the Rekindling program. She has creatively collaborated and choreographed sections of the New South Wales School Spectacular and Creative Generations.

Her inspiration comes from her family, especially her two daughters. Chantal hopes to instil a great sense of pride and understanding in her children, as they grow up knowing they are descendant of a vibrant, culturally rich and strong people.
