Jasmyne Mehrton-Johnson

Jasmyne Mehrton-Johnson is an Aboriginal woman from the Kamilaroi nation. She was born in Windsor, New South Wales and grew up in Calliope, Central Queensland. After studying at NAISDA Dance College, Jasmyne joined Bangarra as a Dance Artist in 2014, performing in all tours and performances across the year.

Jasmyne Mehrton-Johnson is an Aboriginal woman from the Kamilaroi nation. She was born in Windsor, New South Wales and grew up in Calliope, Central Queensland.
In 2014, Jasmyne joined Bangarra as a Dance Artist, performing in all tours and performances across the year.
Jasmyne started dancing at the age of nine, studying jazz and contemporary. In 2009 she moved to Brisbane to begin a two-year Diploma at Queensland Dance School of Excellence. After completing the Diploma, Jasmyne went on to further study dance at the National Aboriginal and Islander Skills Development Association (NAISDA) Dance College.
While at NAISDA Dance College Jasmyne had the opportunity to travel to Saibai Island, Torres Strait and to Elcho Island in North East Arnhem Land where Jasmyne spent time in the community learning and exploring culture and dance.
2013 was Jasmyne’s NAISDA graduating year and she had the privilege to work with independent Choreographer Vicki Van Hout on the second development of the work Long Grass as part of an industry secondment. Jasmyne was also the soloist for NAISDA’s end of year show Our Home for Dismorph choreographed by Frances Rings and in an excerpt of The Protecting Veil choreographed by Graeme Murphy.
