Jesse is a descendant of the Bundjalung people of Northern New South Wales. He also shares Dutch and Spanish Heritage. Jesse joined the Bangarra family in 2013, performing and touring with Blak, Kinship and Dance Clan 3.

Jesse Martin is a descendant of the Bundjalung people of Northern New South Wales. Jesse also shares Dutch and Spanish heritage.
In 2007, Jesse began his studies at the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts (ACPA) with aspirations of becoming an Actor. His focus later shifted towards dance. During his time at ACPA, Jesse had the opportunity to work with Choreographers such as Penny Mullen, Richard Causer, Rosetta Cook, Gina Rings and Amy Campbell. In his final year of study he was fortunate enough to be offered a 6-month secondment with Expressions Dance Company (EDC) performing in the season of While Others Sleep.
In 2011, Jesse joined Leigh Warren & Dancers performing in Breathe choreographed by Frances Rings and Dreamscape for OZ Asia Festival. 2011 also saw Jesse perform in the 'Festival of Solos' at EDC and First Ritual, a collaboration between EDC and Beijing LDTX for Brisbane Festival.
In 2012, Jesse worked on Wesley Enoch’s I Am Eora for Sydney Festival and performed with Leigh Warren & Dancers in Parri Passu. For Leigh Warren & Dancers, Jesse also performed in the double bill Breathe and Impulse for the Edinburgh Festival. In the same year, Jesse was invited to perform in ACPA's retake on Firebird and also performed alongside Queensland Symphony Orchestra and EDC in Towards the Flame at QPAC.
Jesse joined the Bangarra family in May 2013 and worked with the company for the remainder of the year, performing and touring with Blak, Kinship and Dance Clan 3.
