Bio

Born in Yirrkala in North East Arnhem Land, Kathy is a senior woman of her clan, Rirratjingu. Her mother and aunties taught her traditional dance and how to identify and gather food; her father showed her bark painting and told her stories about markings and the sacred sites.

Kathy has been a significant contributor to Bangarra since 2003, working as Cultural Consultant, Performing Artist and Traditional Dance Teacher. In 2009 Kathy traveled with, and facilitated the Bangarra Dancers’ cultural exchange with the Yirrkala community in North East Arnhem Land. In 2011, Bangarra invited Kathy to become an Artist-in-Residence in recognition of her close and valuable association with the company. Kathy has performed and toured with Bangarra Dance Theatre as a part of Spirit, Brolga, and Bush and has been a cultural advisor for many company productions.
