Perun Bonser was born in 1982 and grew up in Broome, Western Australia. He is a descendent of the Bununba Clan of the region. He graduated from NAISDA in 2005 and went on to dance with Bangarra from 2008-10.

Bio

Perun Bonser was born in 1982 and grew up in Broome, Western Australia. He is a descendent of the Bununba Clan of the region.

In 2002, he moved to Sydney to join the National Aboriginal Islander Skills Development Association, from which he graduated with a Diploma in Dance in 2005. During his studies he performed in first and second developments of Vicki Van Hout’s Wiradjourni and Leigh Warren and Gina Rings' collaboration on Petroglyphs - Signs of Life, which he later toured with the company to The Dreaming Festival.

In 2006 he received an ATSIA Council Skills and Arts Development Grant to spend a season with Leigh Warren & Dancers Dance Company in Adelaide. While there he workshopped and understudied for Einstein on the beach, Wanderlust and performed in Satyagraha. Perun also performed at the 2007 Helpmann Awards.

Perun performed with Bangarra from 2008-10, performing in all company repertoire.

After 10 years of dance, Perun moved back to Perth to pursue his interest in film-making, initially focusing on short documentaries that screened on ABC and NITV.
