On Country

Appin

Appin is situated on the lands of the D’harawal people, in the Macarthur Region of New South Wales, near Campbelltown.

Jasmin Sheppard’s Macq explores the devastating and enduring impacts of colonialism in this area, and in particular the ‘March of Macquarie’ – a colonial massacre perpetrated in the town in 1816, under the direction of Governor Macquarie. As part of our commitment to bringing our stories back to the lands and people that inspired them, Macq was returned to D’harawal Country in 2018 at a free community performance.
