Mount Isa

Mount Isa is a city in the far north of Queensland, on the lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Kalkadoon people were known for their impeccable crafting abilities, particularly for stone tools; these tools were traded through a complex network of language groups across Queensland. The Kalkadoon people are also known as skilled warriors, standing up to colonisers in ongoing frontier conflicts around Mount Isa, which ended in a violent clash in 1884 at a place now known as Battle Mountain.
