Saibai Island

Saibai Island in the north western Torres Strait is situated between Australia and Papua New Guinea.

The Koeybuway and Moegibuway peoples are the Traditional Owners of Saibai Island, who have been granted native title over the area. Saibaians' traditional language is Kalaw Kawaw Ya; they also speak Torres Strait Creole and English.
