Eben is a Ngarrindjeri man.

Eben is a Ngarrindjeri man born into the entertainment industry with both his parents working as professional practitioners in production across theatre, festivals, film and music.

As a teenager, Eben became involved with Cairns community theatre, Tropical Arts, as a backstage production hand. After high school, Eben undertook a traineeship at the Cairns Centre of Contemporary Arts (now Bulmba-ja Arts Centre) focusing on Lighting Design as a main craft.
