Aunty Lynette Riley, Cultural Consultant for Miyagan (with Diane McNaboe), visited Bangarra to share a cultural workshop with the Bangarra artists.

Aunty Lyn discussed the importance and complex intricacies of the Wiradjuri totemic and kinship systems, explaining the first layers of this knowledge. She brought in beautifully crafted Kangaroo skins which had been detailed with fine illustrations, burnt into the soft swede skin, depicting family relations and the different layers of the totemic structure. It was a wonderful and meaningful experience for the Bangarra team and helped inform the artists work within the creative development of Miyagan, which means family in the Wiradjuri Language.
